After many years of professional cooking, yelling orders to other chefs and servers, culinary lost it’s magic and my voice was being wasted in kitchens. Following graduation from Armstrong State University with a B.A. in English, and an internship at Q 105.3, Alpha Media took a chance on me and hired me as a Street Teamer.
This job mainly entailed setting up tents and getting things ready for talent to arrive and just being a general hype man for different radio stations. It didn’t take long for me to advance to Board Ops and then a Traffic Announcer. Snowballing quickly into the tech side of things when the Chief Engineer at the station saw my proclivity toward fixing devices and computers.
Single now and living with my brother and my son, traffic reports are now broadcast from my home office. Work and study continue to be a huge part of my daily routine.
Work as a chef always filled me with dread and despair. Today, work as an RF Engineer and IT Associate, going to work fills me with a sense of accomplishment, wonder, and curiosity for what lies ahead.
